This morning, I quasi-rejoined my temple’s minyan morning service. I say “quasi” since my rabbi had recorded & uploaded a service for those who wouldn’t be able to attend in the mornings. He’s incredibly considerate like that. 🙂 Morning prayers start at 0800 which is when I start work so you can see why I haven’t been able to attend.
So today, I did the recorded version. And it was soothing to my soul. I haven’t done morning prayers in over a year (yikes) but I was surprised with how much I still remembered/had memorized. The recorded service doesn’t have a siddur so trying to remember the prayers was a little iffy. But I would say I got it like 70-75%, which is impressive considering I haven’t done them in a while.
I was smiling the whole time & I’ve been humming the songs all day. It feels right. As I’ve said before, this is my missing puzzle piece. Returning to my Jewish roots not only connects me with my ancestors but also my community as well as my Jewish friends.
Yep. This makes me happy so I’m going to keep doing it. ❤
